Megan - 3 months

Megan is 3 months old! And she's still an easy baby. I love it! She likes her floor activity mat, bouncy seat and Bumbo chair. She can almost roll over now. No more hanging out on top of the pool table for her! Here are recents pictures:

Alex's baby

Alex has decided that his stuffed monkey is his "baby". He rarely plays with his animals so this new attachment came as a surprise. Baby goes everywhere with Alex (at least in our house, we put baby to bed when we leave).


Baby likes to eat food in his highchair. Baby even uses a bib. That was Alex's idea... this is the same kid who months ago refused to use a bib. Baby also gets to drink a sippy. Baby wears a diaper; baby sits in a chair when Megan sits in hers. Baby also gets to put to bed at night when Alex goes to bed. Baby has his own pillow and blanket.


It has been so fun these last two weeks watching Alex take care of his baby. Of course, he also likes to play rough; use his toy power drill on the baby's tummy, send baby down the slide, and throw baby off to the side as soon as he finds out he can play outside in the water.

Family Reunion

For July 4th weekend, we went to my family reunion in Plano. This was our first reunion in years; it was fun to see everyone again. My mom has 4 older sisters - I have 16 first cousins and probably 40 or so second cousins and who knows after that. It's a big group. We used to have our reunions each year on July 4th at my grandparents house. They lived in Lefors - population about 500. Maybe. It's a really small town. It's about a 7-8 hour drive from Dallas or you can fly to Amarillo and drive another hour NE. It's far. My grandparents had a nice house and big yard which was packed with family. We had too much food and the best pies baked by my grandma. Lefors has a baseball field and we would head down there everyday to play. There were at least 20 people on each team and everyone would get a chance to play. Especially to hit the ball; all young kids could bat until they hit the ball. Sometimes an inning could go on forever and I'm not sure we every truly finished a game. It was so much fun. Since my grandparents died, we haven't had a big family reunion.

David and I borrowed his parents minivan, picked up my parents and we were on our way. We left Thursday afternoon, just in time for Alex's nap. David drove, my Dad sat in the front and slept, my Mom and I in the middle working Sudoku puzzles and reading, Alex and Megan in the back sleeping. It was nice. With David driving, he wouldn't stop until the kids got antsy so we made it to Corsicana without stopping. Something about a nursing baby no longer acting patient. Once we got to Plano, we went out for Mexican food. On Friday, we went to my cousin Gayle's cafe in Richardson and had a long lunch. My Aunt Faye works there too. We went out Friday night for Italian food with my parents longtime friends, Dewey and Kay. My cousin Robert and his son Justin joined us for dinner.

The reunion started around noon on Saturday at Bob Woodruff Park in Plano. Everyone brought a dish and drinks to share and Gayle brought a brisket on her catering trays. The food was great. Everyone ran around visiting each other in the pavillion and before long there was a volleyball game going. I didn't play (are they crazy - it's almost 100 degrees). Alex ate watermelon, played on the playground and fed the ducks at the lake. He loved it. Megan was passed around and kissed on all day. She of course slept through it all!




Saturday evening we went back to the hotel to shower and cool off. The kids crashed and my parents watched them while David and I went out to dinner. We met Sarah and Kenan and my cousin Jennifer and her husband Erik at Fridays. Erik & Jenn have two kids that stayed with Jenn's mom, Karen. Jennifer has a neat blog and takes the best pictures of her kids. We left Sunday morning. Traffic was heavy and stressful but fortunately we didn't have any major traffic jams getting home. The weekend was fun and busy and can't wait to do it again next year!
